Microsoft 365 vs ONLYOFFICE Docs Community

Fit:

Migration notes

Office editing component, typically integrated with sync/share storage. Not the complete mail/calendar/file suite; Docs Community has 20-editing-connection ceiling and no mobile browser editing. Export native Google documents first; test complex Office documents and integrations.

What you may give up

  • Community capped at 20 simultaneous editing connections
  • Mobile web editing excluded from Community
  • Administration panel and commercial branding/automation options require paid editions

Tier C: Community editor source AGPLv3; current LICENSE adds attribution/origin/legal-notice conditions and licenses non-code content CC-BY-SA-4.0. Enterprise/Developer proprietary. Everyday mobile browser editing and concurrency gates warrant C. This record describes Docs engine, not separate Workspace or DocSpace products. License source

What running it takes

Hover or focus an icon for its name. Dashed means not established; struck through means no; grouped icons are alternatives.

Current Docs10 Community Docker guide is the verified installation path and needs supported Docker plus bundled editor runtime; no separate host Node.js or external SQL/cache/broker prerequisite established. Current official Docker README/startup source explicitly gates PostgreSQL/RabbitMQ/Redis configuration to Enterprise/Developer, so commercial dependencies are conditional and SQL backends are replacements. Exact Docker v10.0.0 source tag URLs404; source-level edition details refer to current master and must be rechecked against chosen image. Community embedded storage implementation not named by these sources; no guessed SQLite claim. Document storage/authentication host separate for real collaboration. Exact internal SQL/cache/queue components inside the chosen stable Community image remain unresolved; absence of external configuration parameters is not evidence of absent bundled internals. Infrastructure and staff time are not priced here; this page does not compare total cost.
